Sounds awesome, right? Basically the gamer walks around on a platform instead of using a traditional analog stick. It’s a great way for extreme gamers to get exercise.
It’s proper name is “Omni by Virtuix”. It’s a multi-directional treadmill that uses a “hacked form of Kinect to connect to modded PC games” (dvice.com)
It works through the user wearing the waist ring and running through the game while on the platform. It gives the gamer an interactive experience for their games. As a fitness advocate, I feel like this is a great way to help folks that are normally sedentary to get up on their feet a little more. It’s still being developed though, so it’s not out for the general public yet.
What do you think? Is this something you would want to use, or do you think it’s a little over the top? I think I’d have to try it out to see if I like it. I love the concept, but it seems a little excessive. But if you’re a hardcore gamer then this might improve your health, and you can’t put a price on that!
