Summer is nearly upon us and that means spending as much time as possible at the lake, the ocean or wherever the closest beach might be. There are few experiences that feel as good as laying in the sun, and there’s no better way to show off the hard work that you’ve been putting in to get that body into excellent shape. Let’s take a look at a few great reasons to pump out a hard training session at the gym before heading to the beach.
Training Gets those Hormones and Pheromones Flowing
If you’re single and interested in meeting a new girl (or guy) then it’s a good idea to train before heading out. Physical activity activates a complex of hormones (like testosterone) and pheromones in the body which can be detected subconsciously by members of the opposite sex who might be in the vicinity. If you’ve put in a killer workout before heading to the sandy shores, your body will be primed for meeting others and you’ll give off a better vibe without having to do anything. On top of this, your confidence will peak and you’ll be feeling great from pumping iron earlier in the day.
Training Hard Means Temporary Weight Loss
Another excellent reason to hit the gym before you head out for some time at the beach is that an hour or more of hard training will cause a good deal of temporary weight loss, giving your body a fit and toned appearance. This is in addition to the natural swelling that your muscles undergo after vigorous training, which will provide you with a “jacked” or swollen appearance for a few hours afterward. Note that although you might look a bit better when you’re dehydrated from a workout – you’re still dehydrated. Remember to drink an adequate amount of water over a few hours to replenish your body’s water stores, and don’t spend hours on end in the sun without consuming water regularly.
A Sweaty Sheen is a Great Sun Defense
While it’s no match for the hot summer sun, the sweat produced by your body contains natural chemicals which will help to protect your skin. To ensure that you’ve got enough sun protection, don’t forget to apply sunscreen whenever you’ll be sitting in direct sunlight for more than a few minutes. Going to the gym and training hard for a great body won’t make much of a difference if you end up suffering from skin cancer, so slather on that sunscreen before you lay down to tan!
These are just a few of the many reasons that you’ll want to hit the gym, the trails or your favorite workout spot to put in some training time before heading out to the beach. Remember: the harder you train, the better you’ll look.
