Making Fitness a Part of Life

There is a huge difference between exercising and being fit.  Simply exercising in order to lose weight or reach a specific goal has some great short term effects, but if it is not sustained by living a healthy lifestyle all that hard work will simply be lost and go to waste.

Making fitness a part of life requires much more than just going on a diet and exercising, it requires a true change of heart.  This means literally quitting some of those practices that go against developing and sustaining a healthy body.

Some of those practices may include smoking, drinking, overeating, oversleeping, not getting enough sleep, and anything else that could be considered detrimental to health.  For some people quitting some of these practices can be a long and difficult challenge, but one that will be worth it in the end.

Becoming fit does not just mean quitting all those practices but substituting those practices with healthy ones.  Taking at least thirty minutes a day five times a week to get some cardiovascular exercise, eating foods that are more nutritious, and even drinking healthier drinks can make a world of difference.

Simply put, becoming fit is not just changing something for a short period of time like a diet or exercise plan, it is developing a lifestyle that promotes healthy eating and healthy practices.  This will help the body look better and feel better.

One interesting fact about becoming fit is that not everyone will achieve similar results.  Meaning what it means to be physically fit for one person may mean something completely different for another.  The most important factor is not what is on the outside, but what is on the inside.

As cliché as it sounds, becoming physically fit not only affects physical health, but also effects mental and emotional health.  Someone who feels great on the inside will typically be more confident and more outgoing on the outside.

There is great value in becoming physically fit as it is a crucial part of a happy and fulfilling life. However, it should be noted again, that physically fit does not mean having a perfect body or a toned body, it is living a healthy lifestyle.

Making these lifestyle changes will definitely be difficult at first, but once a habit of being healthy is developed, it is definitely worth it.  So make sure to make the early morning jog on a treadmill not just a practice for a short amount of time, but something that can be sustained day in and day out.
