Treadmill Review

The Bowflex BXT216 treadmill has good specs for its price but doesn’t quite match up to the other treadmills in its price range. It is outclassed in entertainment features by the NordicTrack Commercial 2450 and lacks the incline range of the ProForm Pro 5000. However, the only treadmills in the price range that can match the BXT216 in weight accommodation are SOLE treadmills. Overall, while we liked the BXT216, there are better treadmills for a similar price.

Price

The BXT216 is priced at $1,799.

The BXT216 Is Built For Users who:

  • Require a sturdy treadmill - The BXT216 can accommodate a user weighing up to 400 lbs, which is plenty sturdy enough for most users.
  • Want a straightforward interface - There is a very easy to navigate interface on the BXT216, so you can easily select your workout, user profile, and more.
  • Have a range of fitness levels to meet - Families with a range of fitness levels to accommodate can all use the BXT216 to meet their cardio workout needs.

Why The BXT216 earned 4 out of 5 stars

Like we mentioned above, the BXT216 is a good treadmill but slightly outclassed by other treadmills in its price range. This affected its ranking as we reviewed it.

  • Powerful motor equal to competitor treadmills - The BXT216 is equipped with a 4.0 CHP motor, which is comparable, if not better, than other treadmills in its price range.
  • Slightly restricted incline range - Many treadmills in the BXT216 can decline as well as incline up to 15%, but the BXT216 cannot decline. It stacks up even worse against the NordicTrack X9i, which is more affordable than the BXT216 and comes with a huge incline range.
  • Fewer workout programs than may be expected - There are only 11 workout programs on the BXT216. We have come to expect more programs for users when treadmills enter this price range.

Display - A colorful 9” LCD screen is embedded into the console of the BXT216. You can have visual feedback on your exertion level as you workout, as well as the calorie burn, speed, incline, time, heart rate and more.

Speakers - There are two speakers built into the top of the BXT216 console. The sound is decent but becomes fuzzy at higher volume levels.

Heart Rate Monitoring - There are contact heart rate sensors built into the front handlebars and also a wireless chest strap that comes with the BXT216 treadmill. The sensors on the handlebars aren’t very accurate but the chest strap does a good job of monitoring your heart rate.

BXT216 Review: Build Quality
  • Warranties - 15-year frame and motor, 5-years parts and electronics, 2-year labor
  • Belt - 3-ply
  • Roller Size - 2.5” back and front
  • Cushioning - Comfort Tech
  • Customer Support - Phone, email, live chat
  • Return Policy - 6-week return window

The BXT216 treadmill has Comfort Tech deck suspension technology built into it to make the deck springy and comfortable. The treadmill belt is thicker than we’ve seen on other models, being a 3-ply treadmill belt. It also has an easy release button that will allow you to lower the deck from a safe distance.

One of the things that brought down the score of the BXT216 is the warranty. While the 5-year parts and electronics and 2-year labor warranty are good, the 15-year warranty on the frame and motor are more restricted than on competitor’s treadmills.

Bottom Line Review Of The Bowflex BXT216 Treadmill

The BXT216 is a good treadmill and a worthwhile option when looking for a home gym treadmill that will hold up under regular usage. It is outclassed by some of the treadmills in its price range, which is why the BXT216 did not earn any of our Best Buy awards. There are many outlets which carry Bowflex machines where you can purchase the BXT216 treadmill. However, we prefer to recommend purchasing directly from the Bowflex website. You will receive better customer support and have a clear claim to warranty-related help if you buy from the manufacturer.
