Treadmill Review

Last Updated: June 9, 2023

The Platinum Club treadmill’s base price is $6,999 which price can greatly increase depending on what add-ons you want with it. However, it is an excellent treadmill. The Platinum Club is meant for a serious runner who puts in 40 or more miles a week or in a light commercial setting. We don't recommend a treadmill at this price point for individuals who are looking for a treadmill to walk, jog, or casually run on.

Price

There are many factors which can affect the price of the Platinum Club treadmill. The base price, which includes the Explore Console and standard color of Arctic Silver, for the Platinum Club is $6,999. Below are the other variations.

Discover SI Console

  • Arctic Silver - $7,999
  • Black Onyx - $8,199
  • Diamond White - $8,199
  • Titanium Storm - $8,199

Discover SE3 HD Console

  • Arctic Silver - $8,999
  • Black Onyx - $9,199
  • Diamond White - $9,199
  • Titanium Storm - $9,199

The Platinum Club Is Built For Users who:

  • Are high-mileage runners - With its well-cushioned deck, a variety of workout programs, and powerful motor, the Platinum Club treadmill will stand up to constant heavy use.
  • Want to customize their treadmill - From the color to the console, the Platinum Club comes with many options which allow the buyer to personalize their treadmill to suit their wants and needs.
  • Need extreme durability - Unable to fold, the Platinum Club has a thick and sturdy metal frame. The treadmill’s arms are just as sturdy though they are molded plastic rather than metal.

Why The Platinum Club earned 4.8 stars out of 5

The Platinum Club is a health club quality treadmill and has many fine points. However, there are a few areas where it falls short, which lost it a few points with us.

  • Small incline range compared to the X22i - A serious runner needs a large incline range, which the Platinum Club only has a range of 0% to 15%. However, the NordicTrack X22i Incline Trainer treadmill has an incline range of -6% to 40% and is usually a quarter of the price of the Platinum Club.
  • Has many of the features needed for a high-quality treadmill - Many high-priced treadmills lack the features to be really considered a quality treadmill, but not the Platinum Club. It has a 4.0 CHP motor, can accommodate a user weighing up to 400 lbs, and has a generous belt measuring 22” wide and 60” long.
  • Lacks some basic comforts - Oddly enough, some of the basic features on other treadmills are missing on the Platinum Club such as fans, speakers, and the ability to fold.

Overall, the Platinum Club is a great treadmill even though it does lack some features, which keeps it from holding a perfect score.

Main Specs - 9/10

Specs “Quick Review”:
  • Motor Size: 4.0 CHP
  • Running Area: 60” L x 22” W
  • Weight Capacity: 400 lbs
  • Folding: No
  • Footprint In Use (W, L, H): 37” x 80” x 62.25”
  • Incline Range: 0% to 15%
  • Max Speed: 12 MPH
  • Treadmill Best For: Serious Runner, Light-Commercial
  • Electrical Requirements: 120V

Motor Size - Equipped with a large and powerful motor, the Platinum Club has a 4.0 CHP motor with a peak horsepower of 8.0.

Running Area - A good amount of running area is available on the Platinum Club, measuring 22” wide and 60” long. The commercial variants of the Platinum Club can detect when you step off the belt and will stop immediately. This can be highly useful, especially if you stumble during a run or have to hop off to take care of something quickly.

Weight Capacity - We fully believe the Platinum Club can hold a user weighing up to 400 lbs. This hefty machine weighs 444 lbs and is incredibly sturdy, so most users can feel completely confident when using the Platinum Club.

Folding  - The Platinum Club cannot fold, which is just as well since the deck is very heavy and would be difficult to secure.

Space / Footprint - You will need plenty of space if you want the Platinum Club. It is not an apartment-friendly machine as it measures 37” wide, 80” long, and 62.25” tall. This treadmill also cannot be easily moved, so wherever you build it, you better want your treadmill to remain there or gather a few friends to help you move it.

Max Speed - Standard with most treadmills, the Platinum Club has a speed range of 0.5 to 12 MPH.

Incline - One of the few areas where the Platinum Club falls a bit short is the incline range, which only goes from 0% to 15%.

A top feature of the Platinum Club treadmill is the high-quality build construction. It is incredibly sturdy and never moves or wiggles as you workout. Where the console joins the rest of the treadmill may be the only somewhat weak point.

The base warranty of the Platinum Club is a lifetime warranty on the frame, shock absorbers and motor, 10-years on parts, 3-years on the console, and 1-year on labor. You can purchase extended protection plans, which are as follows:

Bottom Line Review Of The Life Fitness Platinum Club Series Treadmill

Overall, the Platinum Club is an excellent treadmill with too high a price for any beginner or even intermediate runner. It has many great qualities but unless you are a serious and regular runner or need a quality light-commercial treadmill, you are better off looking at other treadmills such as our best treadmills under $2,500.
