Treadmill Review

In most ways, the NordicTrack C 1070 treadmill is incredibly similar to the NordicTrack C990 and will likely be replacing the C990 in the NordicTrack C series treadmill lineup. The C 1070 has an affordable price point and comes with features which are nearly identical to the C990, except that the C 1070 has a little less incline range, slightly smaller treadmill belt width, stronger commercial motor, different console layout, and more compact design overall. As it is so similar to the C990, both in features and in operations, here at Treadmill Reviews, we have found that the C 1070 is also a great, affordable treadmill option for walkers and joggers.

Price

The price point for the C 1070 is generally at $999.

The C 1070 Is Built For Users who:

  • Want the latest fitness tech - NordicTrack brings the latest fitness technology to even their more affordable treadmill, with a touchscreen, free iFit 30 day membership, plenty of exercise programs built-in and more.
  • Are looking for a quality, affordable treadmill - Priced under $1,000, you can enjoy the high build quality the C 1070 offers without a high price tag.
  • Prefer high amounts of adjustability - The C 1070 provides you with the ability to choose your cushioning level, fan controls, incline levels, and other quality of use options.

Why The C 1070 earned 4 stars

If the C 1070 is meant to be a successor to the C990, then it is a good one, which is what we concluded after we reviewed this treadmill.
  • Strong, commercial motor - One of the two C series treadmills with a commercial motor, the C 1070 is able to run smoothly while delivering consistent power to your workouts.
  • Compact, space-conscious design - Not everyone has room for a massive NordicTrack Incline Trainer, so the C 1070 is a good mix of power and compact design. That way, most people can find a spot for this treadmill in their homes.
  • Well-balanced between price and features - With the C 1070, you receive a quality balance between the pricing and the features available, especially with the free month iFit membership.
Overall, the C 1070 is a good treadmill option if you are looking for an affordable treadmill from a premier treadmill manufacturer.

Main Specs - 8/10

Specs “Quick Review”:
  • Motor Size: 3.0 CHP
  • Running Area: 18” W x 60” L
  • Weight Capacity: 300 lbs
  • Folding: Yes
  • Footprint In Use (W, L, H): 33.5” x 75.8” x 56.4”
  • Incline Range: 0-10%
  • Max Speed: 12 MPH
  • Treadmill Best For: Walking, Jogging
  • Electrical Requirements: 120V

Motor Size - One of the best, unseen feature on the C 1070 is the 3.0 CHP DurX™ Commercial Plus motor. With a more powerful motor, the C 1070 can hold up under multiple users working out daily and may be good for a limited amount of running, though we normally recommend runners look at treadmills around the $1,500 price point, as they are built to take more of a pounding.
Running Area - Surprisingly, the C 1070 has a slightly smaller treadmill belt than is normally expected from NordicTrack, measuring 18 inches wide and 60 inches long. The length can accommodate users with longer strides, and most of our testers did not notice the 2” difference between the C 1070 belt and the C990.
Weight Capacity - Users who weigh up to 300 lbs can safely use the C 1070. While some customers have claimed that they weigh over 300 lbs and use the C 1070, we do not recommend this practice, as it can lead to treadmill damage and potential injury. If you need a higher weight accommodation, the SOLE treadmills are some of the sturdiest residential treadmills available.
Folding  - Able to fold up easily, the C 1070 comes with a hydraulic system which allows you to fold and secure your treadmill deck by just raising it high enough. To release the deck, all you need to do is to press the lever with your foot, and the deck will descend hands-free to lightly touch down on your floor.
Space / Footprint -  A little more compact than the C990, the C 1070 measures 33.5” wide,  75.8” long, and 56.4” tall.
Max Speed - You can reach the max speed of 12 MPH, either by choosing whole speed integers or going by increments of 0.1.
Incline - There is a little less incline range on the C 1070 than the C990 had, with the C 1070 coming with 0% to 10% incline range. However, that is still enough incline range to ramp up your calorie burn.

Features “Quick Review”

  • PreInstalled Workout Apps: 32
  • Speakers: Yes
  • Fans: Yes
  • Heart Rate Monitoring: EKG grip pulse
  • USB port: No
  • Audio Jack: Yes

Workout Apps - Choose from 32 different built-in workout programs easily, selecting from these exercise programs: heart rate, calorie burn, high intensity, speed, and incline. From there, you can choose from beginner, intermediate, and advanced programs to help you ease into your workout regime.
Also included with your purchase of the C 1070, you will receive a free 30 day membership to iFit. With iFit, you can follow along with world-class personal trainers as they lead you through visually stunning workouts. The trainers can control the settings on your treadmill, helping you push yourself further, though you can adjust the speed and incline at any time.
Display - There is a 7-inch touchscreen display on the C 1070, which is high-definition and responsive to your touch. With the touchscreen, you can also access far more workout data, from the standard calorie burn, current heart rate, incline and speed, and more, to information on your elevation loss and gain, heart rate peaks and lows, and more in-depth information to help you train.
Speakers - The dual, 2-inch speakers on the C 1070 can output good sound clarity at high volume levels. While the sound quality deteriorates a bit at the highest levels, the speakers are a good option if you want to run headphones-free.
Fans - With the AutoBreeze workout fan, you can choose from multiple fan speeds or allow the treadmill fan adjust with your workout intensity.
Heart Rate Monitoring - On the C 1070, there are EKG handlebar pulse grips for heart rate monitoring. These pulse grips will only give you a rough estimate of your heart rate, so it is best not to rely on them exclusively if you are heart rate zone training.

C1070 Review: Build Quality

  • Belt - 2-ply
  • Roller Size - 1.6” front and back
  • Cushioning - FlexSelect Cushioning

One of the key build features on the C 1070 is the FlexSelect cushioning. This style of cushioning allows you to change the level of cushioning on the C 1070 to your preferences. There is also a sturdy, while slim, steel frame which comes with the C 1070, with a crossbar to stabilize the treadmill no matter how tough your workout. The arms are a little short, so if you tend to lean on the treadmill arms, you may need to be careful on this treadmill. With the C 1070, you will have 30 days to determine if your treadmill is defective or just not for you. If you decide you need to return your treadmill, you will need to contact NordicTrack for a return authorization number, box up your machine, and take it out to the curb for pickup. You will be charged a 10% restocking fee unless your machine is defective.
