Also, while we focus on treadmills here at Treadmill Reviews, we can appreciate the excellent cross-training opportunity provided by the SMART HIIT Trainer. This machine is more compact than an elliptical but provides the same kind of low-impact cardio, as well as the motion of a stair-stepper, without the jarring movement that comes with one of those machines.

To help you get an idea of what it would be like to own the SMART HIIT Trainer, we want to go over our experience of using this machine and what you might encounter if you choose to bring it home.
7” Backlit Display - The display that comes with the SMART HIIT Trainer is a 7” backlit screen that is built into the console. With an overall blue background and white lettering, the display is easy to see as you workout. From this screen, you can track your distance covered, as it converts to miles, as well as your speed, calories burned as you workout, time, and the speed you are going.

Bluetooth Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap included - To add greater utility to this machine, the SMART HIIT Trainer comes with two ways to monitor your heart rate. First, you have the heart rate monitoring handlebars, which are not overly accurate. But you can use the iFit chest strap, which is a Bluetooth heart rate monitor. This chest strap is adjustable and can easily track your heart rate so that you can do targeted heart rate zone training.
Inertia-Enhanced Flywheel - There is a 28-lb, inertia-enhanced flywheel built into the SMART HIIT Trainer, working smoothly to allow you intense workouts. With this heavier flywheel, you can have a more natural stride.
SMR™ Silent Magnetic Resistance & 24 Resistance Levels - You can pack in an intense workout thanks to the 24 resistance levels you can use on the SMART HIIT Trainer. In many cases, you likely won’t use anything beyond level 10 resistance, as it will be hard enough to push through that difficulty level. Either way, as you workout, you can easily change resistance levels with the touch of a button.
Also, as you exercise on the SMART HIIT Trainer, you don’t have to worry about disturbing anyone with the sound of your machine. This machine operates silently, thanks to the Silent Magnetic Resistance built into it.
Multi-Function Handlebars - Depending on what type of workout you are engaged in, there is a set of handlebars you can use on the SMART HIIT Trainer. One set of these handlebars can move with you, much like when you use an elliptical. That allows you to engage your arms more fully in your exercise routine. Or, if you prefer to stay static, there is another set of handlebars that you can hold onto.
Fans - This machine comes with ProForm’s CoolAire workout fan. There are two speeds available on the SMART HIIT Trainer, and even the lower setting puts out a decent amount of air. Depending on your height, the fan will likely blow on your upper chest, though if you are on the shorter side like one of our equipment testers, the fan may mostly blow on your face.
Weight Capacity - There is an excellent weight capacity on the SMART HIIT Trainer, and it can accommodate users who weigh up to 350 lbs. With this high weight capacity, this machine is a good option for individuals who want to start exercising but need a safe, sturdy machine.
Free-Standing Base - The ProForm SMART HIIT Trainer is a compact machine with a free-standing base. With this sturdy base, you can push your body during intense workouts without worrying that it will shake or move in any way. This machine is also half the size of an elliptical, so it will take up far less space in your home than most other cross-training machines.
Tablet Holder And Aux Port - To either enjoy your entertainment or sync iFit with the SMART HIIT Trainer, there is a convenient tablet holder fixed above the console that you can slot your tablet into. There is also an aux port that you can use to plug in your audio entertainment and use the built-in sound system.
Warranty - A good warranty coverage comes with this machine. You can enjoy a lifetime warranty on the frame of the machine, and a 3-year warranty on the parts, as well as 1-year labor coverage.
Ease of Use - As the SMART HIIT Trainer is a fairly unique machine, it can take a couple of minutes of use to become comfortable with how it moves.
