Treadmill Review

The Weslo Cadence G 5.9i treadmill is very similar to the Weslo Cadence G 5.9. In fact, the two are nearly identical except for two features. The G 5.9i has a tablet holder and a 2.25 CHP motor. The G5.9 has a larger motor (2.5 CHP) and no tablet holder.

If you are comparing the two treadmills and looking to buy one, we would recommend the G 5.9 over the G 5.9i. However, we don’t recommend either treadmill unless you have a very strict budget and only need a treadmill for walking.

Price

The G 5.9i treadmill is affordably priced at $399.

The G 5.9i Is Built For Users who:

  • Need a place to walk - Whether there are safety reasons, weather-related reason, or just because it’s convenient, if a walker is looking for a decent treadmill, the G 5.9i is an okay option.
  • Like easy console controls - There are pictures of the 6 exercise programs and large, labeled buttons which allow you to change your speed. These simple controls will appeal to those who don’t want to navigate a more complex treadmill console.
  • Require an affordable treadmill - While financing can help make most treadmills more affordable, some would prefer to buy their treadmill outright. The G 5.9i is affordable enough to buy outright.

Why The G 5.9i earned 2 out of 5 stars

The Cadence G 5.9i treadmill earned 0.2 stars less than the G 5.9, even though they are very similar treadmills.

  • Weaker motor than the G 5.9 - Instead of the 2.5 CHP motor in G 5.9, the G 5.9i only has a 2.25 CHP motor. This lowers the likelihood that the G 5.9i will last under regular use.
  • Low-end build quality - Thin, hollow metal make up the frame of the G 5.9i and the majority of the treadmill has slim molded plastic parts.
  • Affordable for walkers - If all you want is a treadmill to walk on, then the G 5.9i is a decent option.

As we try to keep in mind all the potential treadmill users here at Treadmill Reviews, we acknowledge that not everyone needs the most tech-pack, high-end treadmill. The G 5.9i is not a bad treadmill for those who need very little from a treadmill.

Main Specs - 4/10

Specs “Quick Review”:
  • Motor Size: 2.25 CHP
  • Running Area: 16” x 50”
  • Weight Capacity: 275 lbs
  • Folding: Yes
  • Footprint In Use (W, L, H): 29” x 64.5” x 55.5”
  • Incline Range: 2-position
  • Max Speed: 10 MPH
  • Treadmill Best For: Walker
  • Electrical Requirements: 120 volts

Motor Size - A small, 2.25 CHP motor runs the G 5.9i. The small motor does run quietly and smoothly. We aren’t sure it will stay smooth over the long-term, especially if the G 5.9i is used for anything but walking.

Running Area - The treadmill running belt area is restrictive, measuring only 50” long and 16” wide. This may make the G 5.9i uncomfortable for those with long strides or who don’t pay attention closely to their footing on a treadmill.

Weight Capacity - Users weighing up to 275 lbs can use the G 5.9i. However, the closer you are to the higher end of the weight capacity, the more likely the treadmill uprights will wiggle as you workout.

Folding  - The Weslo SpaceSaver design helps this thin treadmill fold up. You will need to use a spring-loaded metal pin to secure the treadmill deck in the folded position.

Space / Footprint - A compact treadmill, the G 5.9i measures only 29” wide, 64.5” long, and 55.5” high. It is ideally suited to homes with little space for a cardio machine as it is also light and easy to move if you need to store the treadmill away when it is not being used.

Max Speed - The speed range of the G 5.9i is 0-10 miles per hour. However, the faster you go, the more the treadmill uprights vibrate. Also, you are more likely to wear the G 5.9i out quickly if you use the higher speeds on this treadmill.

Incline - You will need to manually change your incline if you want to use the incline feature. The feet at the end of the treadmill can be folded to give you an incline. Otherwise, there is only the regular, 0% incline on the G 5.9i.

G 5.9i Review: Build Quality

  • Warranties - 1-year motor, 90-day labor and parts
  • Belt - pre-lubricated
  • Roller Size - 1.5”
  • Cushioning - Comfort Cell™ Cushion
  • Customer Support - Chat, email, phone
  • Return Policy - 30-day return

The warranty period is limited to the point of uselessness, as you should hardly expect to need replacement part and work done on your treadmill within the 90-day period. The fact that the warranty is so short makes us unsure of how long the G 5.9i is supposed to be in good working order.

Unless there is a defect or damage, returning the G 5.9i will incur you a 10% restocking fee. But if there is damage or defect on the G 5.9i, then there will be no fee. You will have to set up the return through customer service before the return can be affected.

Bottom Line Review Of The Weslo Cadence G 5.9i Treadmill

Much like the Cadence G 5.9, we do not recommend buying the G 5.9i unless you have very limited treadmill needs. It will hold up for walkers who weigh at most 275 lbs but we do not recommend it for anyone who wants to use the G 5.9i for jogging or running as it will not last long under the strain.

Best Place To Buy The Weslo Cadence G 5.9i Treadmill

We recommend you work with Weslo directly to purchase the Cadence G 5.9i treadmill. This will ensure a safe shipping process, that you receive the correct treadmill model you were looking for, and that any problems can be quickly addressed by the customer service. This process can be infinitely complicated buying through a third-party instead of Weslo.
