Sole F80 Review & Ratings
The Sole F80 is a great treadmill for the year and for the price. Last year they gave it some good upgrades, and this year they left the machine and its price tag alone. You won't find more solid treadmills in this price range. Sole is standing out above the others with their quality machines, and also their excellent warranties. If you get a chance to take a run on this treadmill you'll notice how completely stable it is compared to many other folding treadmills. The F80's design came about from hotel demands for running equipment with more durability than home treadmills and Sole provided just such a treadmill. It's been rated by many as the best folding treadmill.
This isn't just because of the stability, but because of the rest of the specifications it offers as well. If you combine a full 3 CHP motor, a big 20" x 60" running area with a strong 2-ply belt (which greatly runs quietly), a very strong deck and frame that can hold up to 350 lbs, with lifetime coverage on the deck, frame, and motor, as well as 5 years on parts, and 2 years on labor, you've got a winner. Simple as that. There are a total of 10 workout programs to use on the F80 in addition to smaller luxuries such as cooling fans and stop watches. The screen display is a typical backlit blue LCD that has scrolling information. Although the screen is a little unimpressive, you really are mostly paying for great treadmills specs and minimal features/add-ons.
The F80 is the lowest tier in the beginning of Sole's 80 series. The next step in the series is the Sole F83 which provides an upgraded 3.25 CHP motor, a larger flywheel which makes for quieter running, and a larger display screen. The cost for all these upgrades is $200 more than the F80's cost. The extra cost may or may not be worth the upgrades, but if you tend to be money conscience then the F80 is a better pick. The highest tier of the series is the Sole F85 which has an upgraded 3.5 CHP motor, a 22" x 60" tread belt, a maximum weight capacity of 400 lbs, and costs $1,999. The price for the F85 is high in comparison to the F80, but the specs have been ramped up quite a bit.
The F80 has a good 3.0 CHP motor, has a nice cushioning system which helps with a smooth and consistent workout, and does look visually sleek and cool. The F80 could use more features and programs, but with what it has it still does very well. If you're looking for a solid, stable treadmill the F80 is a good pick for just that.
