There are many people that struggle with running. When you are having a hard time with running consistently you may find that you need to adjust the goals that you are setting for yourself so that you can be sure that your runs are effective.
First, you may want to start setting distance goals. Be wise about the goals that you set for yourself and the time frame that you give yourself to accomplish those goals. When you set a goal of distance you should make sure that you start by assessing the distance that you can run currently. Do not be embarrassed by your run, but make sure that you go out and run as far as you possibly can. Push your body to the limit and make sure that you are smart about the way that you are pushing your body. Do not push yourself so hard that you get ill, but push yourself as far as you can without injuring yourself.
After you have marked how far you can run, you can then figure out how you are going to improve. Getting out and running that distance every day for a set amount of time may help you feel like that distance is easier. While you are setting goals of distance you want to make sure that you know what increment you are going to use to improve. You also need to be sure that you are consistent with the increments that you are using to improve. You may start by simply improving your distance by one block. Or, you may find that you want to improve your distance by a mile each week so that you can run that added distance for the entire week that you are running.
Second, you may possibly find that you want to improve the time that you are running a specific distance in. Again, be smart about the time limit goals you are setting yourself; don’t make ridiculous goals that will never be accomplished. Keep it realistic and something that is definitely within your abilities to complete. Run a specific distance and time yourself so that you have a base number to start with. Then as you improve with running that distance, and it becomes easier, start trying to meet that same distance at a shorter time; just keep it a small amount of time. Try to shave off that increment of time each in a specific amount of days. Push yourself to improve your time even when you feel that it is just not possible to be able to go any faster than your current time.
It is possible to improve your ability to run, but you have to make sure that you are wise about the process. Be smart about the process so that you are able to push your body in ways that are healthy for you. Running consistently is a great way to strengthen the muscles throughout your body. Take time to run consistently so that you can stay in great shape.
You may also decide that you want to do this on a treadmill. You will want to make sure it is able to withstand constant and hard use by looking at my best buys! I would also recommend getting a treadmill that has iFit Live technology, like the NordicTrack Commercial 1750, because iFit is a great way to keep track of your running and stats.
