Matrix is known for their commercial treadmills and brings that experience to their residential line. The Matrix T75 is the top treadmill in their non-folding lineup. It has the most spacious running deck and a powerful 3-horsepower AC motor. The T75 feels like a commercial treadmill but is suitable only for home use. There are four console options, allowing users to customize the treadmill with their desired training options. This review of the Matrix T75 treadmill surveys its features and specs to conclude who it's for and why you should or should not buy it.
The Matrix T75 represents the brand’s premier residential treadmill. It has the highest quality construction of the folding and non-folding treadmills from Matrix. Of course, this status makes it the most expensive option out of the lineup. The most noteworthy features of its build are the deck size, the motor strength, and the weight capacity. Plus, the lifetime warranty on the frame, motor, and cushioning is very promising for its durability.
The Matrix T75 has a sturdy steel frame. The uprights form two handles that loop into one continuous handle. This design creates a very sturdy frame to hold the console stable. The T75 also has aluminum side rails to provide a comfortable and supportive place to stand off the moving belt. It is a robust construction that lives up to its premium price.
The 3.0 HP motor is an AC motor. Most residential treadmills have DC motors while commercial treadmills use AC motors. The Matrix T75 opts for the more durable option, which is perfect for active households and runners tackling very long distances.
The running surface is 22” x 60” and provides room for running fast, even up to the maximum 12.5 mph speed limit. The Matrix T75 is moderately cushioned, using the Ultimate Deck System for cushioning. The deck is 1-inch thick which makes it more durable than the traditional 0.75-inch residential deck. It has a step-up height of only 7 inches.
The T75 is a large, non-folding treadmill. The dimensions of the Matrix T75 are 79 inches long, 36 inches wide, and 61 inches tall. You will need enough space for a treadmill of this size plus some clearance at the front, back, and sides of the treadmill. You will want enough space behind the treadmill to prevent anything from being pulled under the deck and provide a safe space should you fall or quickly exit off the back of the treadmill.
The incline reaches a maximum of 15%. The Matrix T75 does not decline. AC motors are typically less responsive than DC motors, so the incline may be slightly slower to adjust than DC treadmills.
There are four console options: the XUR, XIR, XER, and XR. The XR is a simple console with fewer features than the other three options which are touchscreen consoles. Treadmill shoppers can customize their training experience on the T75 by opting for a low-tech or high-tech console. Furthermore, they can choose the size of their touchscreen display: 22, 16, and 10 inches. Features will vary by the type of console you choose.
The XR console has an 8.5-inch LCD screen and a few physical buttons. There is a keypad numbered 0-9 to allow users to set speed and incline settings. There are also buttons beneath the screen that allow you to start, stop, and adjust the treadmill. It does not have speakers or built-in apps. There are only 5 workout options, including the Sprint 8 program.
These consoles are touchscreen and increase in price as they get larger. The XUR console is the premium option with a 22-inch display. These consoles have 12-13 built-in workouts but have thousands of other training programs available through their advanced connectivity and preloaded apps.
The touchscreen consoles have speakers below the screens. Because they are front-facing speakers, they should have clear audio quality. There are other audio options available if you prefer to listen quietly.
Bluetooth allows you to pair headphones to listen quietly to the onscreen content. You can also pair a heart rate monitor. The Matrix T75 also pairs with third-party training apps on your phone or tablet with Bluetooth.
The smart consoles also have ports for connecting wired headphones or smart devices to play audio. There are HDMI and USB ports. This connectivity gives you tons of options for training content and entertainment. Plus, there are already third-party apps loaded onto the smart consoles.
The EKG pulse grips are on the side treadmill handles. These grips allow you to check in on your heart rate as you train. They are available on the T75 regardless of the console option you choose. The EKG pulse grips are an alternative to pairing a wearable heart rate monitor.
The Matrix T75 has two cup holder pockets with two different cup holder sizes each. These pockets are suitable for holding a bottle or other small items.
There's a narrow device rack at the bottom of the console. You can store a phone or tablet here. It’s convenient to have a device rack for when your device is connected to the T75 through a Bluetooth or wired connection.
The Matrix T75 stands out from the rest of Matrix’s lineup because of its more powerful motor and spacious running deck. In particular, the AC motor supports high use and is more durable than the DC alternative. Long-distance runners will enjoy training on Matrix T75 for their longest efforts. The moderately cushioned deck isn’t so soft that it overly assists with performance, but it provides a break from the pounding of training outside on the road or sidewalk.
Walkers and more casual runners can comfortably share this treadmill with their whole households. This treadmill is great for casual and intense use. The T75 is not a commercial-grade product so it should be used for residential purposes only.
The Matrix T75 has built-in training programs. These are standard speed and hill interval workouts, as well as Sprint 8 programming. For even more training options, you will need one of the touchscreen consoles. These consoles give you access to training apps. Matrix also has iFIT.
iFIT is a fitness platform with classes filmed all over the world. Choose from thousands of treadmill classes that follow professional coaches as they provide training advice and educational information about the location you are virtually exploring. The T75’s speed and incline will automatically adjust to follow the trainer’s cues and the terrain being covered. It is a fantastic way to train, and you can access more training content from iFIT on your phone and tablet for strength training, yoga, and more. iFIT requires a subscription after a 30-day free trial.
There are built-in apps on the T75’s smart consoles. You’ll find Netflix, Spotify, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and more. If you feel limited by this selection, you can pair your phone or tablet with the treadmill through the USB or HDMI port to show more content. This method is useful if you want to stream content from another entertainment streaming service.
