Treadmill Review

Last Updated: 1/11/2023

We are fans of Sole’s cardio equipment. Time and time again, Sole continues to produce reliable treadmills, ellipticals, and exercise bikes. The Sole E55 is their mid-level home elliptical. With a solid steel frame, a heavy flywheel, easy gliding foot pedals, and an impressive max weight capacity, the E55 is an elliptical you can trust for years to come. After playing with it ourselves, we can confidently recommend the E55 as a smart buy.

The Sole E55 Elliptical Is Ideal For:

The Sole E55 is a simple piece of equipment with an interface similar to something you’d use at the local gym. For the buyer who wants something light on tech but heavy on performance, the E55 is a great option.

The Sole E55 Is One Of Our BEST BUYs For Ellipticals Between $1500 - $2000

We never experience any issues with the software or machine malfunction with Sole products and the E55 is no exception. This elliptical is incredibly comfortable to use. A true low-impact cardio workout can be had on the E55 and what's more — the positioning of the foot pedals, console, drive system, and handlebars are one of the best configurations in home ellipticals available, most naturally mimicking a natural stride for a comfortable workout.

The Sole Fitness app gets a lot of bad reviews on Google Play and the Apple Store. Our experience with this app has not been impressive. We’ve experienced crashing and glitches but our fingers are crossed that Sole will continue to work through the bugs and provide a better tech experience with their equipment. If you’re interested in applying more apps and tech to your fitness regimen, take a look at ellipticals from NordicTrack and ProForm.

Sole E55 Home Delivery and Set-Up

Sole offers free curbside delivery, which is what we typically opt for. The delivery person will park the truck as close to your home as they can and then unload the boxes. This doesn’t guarantee the boxes will be safe from weather conditions.

To make sure your boxes are placed under a covered area like a patio or garage, you’ll want to select at minimum the Threshold Delivery option ($59). That way your packages will be protected from inclement weather if you’re not able to bring them in right away.

Other shipping options include:

  • Room of Choice for $119
  • Assembly for $239

Sole E55 Review - Final Thoughts

The Sole E55 is a great elliptical. It feels really solid when we’re on it and consistently delivers a hassle-free workout. We like this elliptical because of its sturdiness and longevity. It can support higher weighted users than most home ellipticals with an excellent warranty to back it up. This is a simple, easy to use elliptical that we’re confident will stand the test of time. It remains a solid top pick for home ellipticals between $1500 and $2000.

Here is our top pick in the $1500-$2000 price category for home ellipticals:

While we do love and trust the E55, our top pick for home ellipticals between $1500 and $2000 is the Nordictrack FS7i Freestrider. This home elliptical offers more range of motion, allows you to target and activate more muscle groups for a well-rounded workout. It’s heavy-handed on the tech front so users will be required to navigate a tablet-style interface. However, the learning curve is very short. Once you’re comfortable with the display, iFit Coach provides countless workouts to keep you constantly entertained and engaged.
