NordicTrack Elliptical Reviews 2019

In the late 1990s NordicTrack added ellipticals to the list of home cardio equipment they manufactured and sold. They’ve developed a front, rear, and center drive elliptical to meet the needs of their customers and each line of ellipticals includes some great equipment. The NordicTrack ellipticals range in price from $899 to $2799. We lean in favor of the Freestride series from NordicTrack because of the versatility you get with a wide stride length and range of motion. But we’ve also got our eye on the Spacesaver SE7i as an elliptical that was engineered to fold in half, transport easily, and still provide a great home fitness experience. Keep reading to find our full list of NordicTrack elliptical reviews.

Most NordicTrack ellipticals (accept for the SE7i and FS5i) are now equipped with an HD touchscreen display. Even the SE7i and FS5i (LCD displays) are now fully integrated to access iFit Coach, an ICON Fitness subscription service for accessing a huge library of workout videos specifically for your elliptical. These workout videos use world-class personal trainers that guide you through your workout. Your elliptical will automatically adjust resistance and incline to follow along with the video. This aspect of NordicTrack’s ellipticals makes them one of the best options for entertaining and engaging workouts, eliminating boredom, and increasing your odds of actually sticking to a workout routine on your home cardio equipment.

NordicTrack Elliptical Product Line Summary

Over the years, NordicTrack has been developing their ellipticals to meet the demands of their customers. This has led to the creation of three distinct series: the Rear Drive Series, the Front Drive Series, and the Freestride Series.

The original elliptical from Precor was rear-drive and because Precor held the patent for that design, other companies introduced the front-drive elliptical as a means to break into the market. Really, both configurations are so similar that it’s hard to say which one is “best”. But, NordicTrack has developed its center-drive elliptical that really stands out. It’s incredibly comfortable to use and seems more ergonomic concerning the foot placement in correlation to stride. Because the flywheel is not positioned between the foot pedal rails, the center drive design allows the foot pedals to be placed closer together which better resembles a natural walking pattern. The center drive also allows for a wider and more variable stride length, allowing for taller users and more range of motion to target different muscle groups.

NordicTrack Freestride Series Ellipticals (Center Drive)

The NordicTrack Freestride series is made up of three models: the FS5i, FS7i, and the FS9i. These range in price from $1999 to $2499. Their base model, the FS5i, is the least expensive with an LCD screen and lighter weight flywheel (16 pounds). The FS7i is an awesome product. At this price point and with so many great features, it’s our top pick for home ellipticals. Read the individual review to learn more.

NordicTrack Front-Drive Series Ellipticals

NordicTrack currently has four models in its front-drive elliptical series, ranging in price from $999 to $1500. These models are budget-friendly without sacrificing their build quality and durability. Each elliptical offers a nice warranty and extra features like built-in fans, the ability to incline, and multiple hand-hold positions. Read their individual reviews to learn more.

NordicTrack Rear-Drive Series Ellipticals

The rear-drive series from NordicTrack is a great option for anyone most concerned with space. These SpaceSaver ellipticals are engineered to fold in half and transport easily. They might have a collapsible upper half, but they feel sturdy and reliable while in use. Read their individual reviews to learn more.

Is A NordicTrack Elliptical Right For Your Home?

Shopping for home gym equipment is hard when you start to realize just how many options are available. Ellipticals range in design, component quality, warranty coverage, and extra features. You’ll figure out what matters most to you as you shop around but before you start looking, there are a few things you should already know…

  • Do you need to worry about weight capacity? Each elliptical has a weight capacity from the manufacturer. Keep this in mind as you shop around! Cross anything off your list that doesn’t meet this need.
  • How often will this elliptical be used? If you expect to use the elliptical sparingly, you might be safe opting for a less expensive model. But if you plan on daily, extended use or even multiple family members using the elliptical, something with a heavy flywheel and lengthy warranty are a smart choice.
  • What’s your budget? It’s easy to get sucked into the shiny bonus features you’ll find on higher-end models. But if you know your price range beforehand, you can make wiser financial choices by shopping in your price range and understanding what you can get out of an elliptical at that price point.
